Being drunk messes with dese skillz. I like taking a little bowl and playing. A small buzz enough to get you going but not enough to kick in retard mode. Always have a hella good time.

Really though. Sober is where it's at. Pick a progression/key and just roll with it. Work those jammin' skills brah.
Not necessarily stoned, but beautiful.

That's not the alcohol, they just got old and learned some more theory.

A little alcohol or weed can reduce stress and open up your creative side. But getting sloppy drunk isn't a good idea for song writing. Most of the time drunk people THINK they are doing something better, when really they are just so ****ed up they can't tell its just as bad as normal.
#16
you need the booze/weed to calm your nerves about writing... stop caring so much... it's still you and it's still your mind... if you keep saying you need to be intoxicated to write, you'll either never write, or be in betty ford...

Most moms aren't down with incest, actually.

That's probably because when you're drunk, you don't have as many inhibitions, so your inner critic is effectively silenced.

Just ask Hemingway or Faulkner.

And I don't have this problem, though I find myself being more creative about midnight-ish. Which I always found odd.

Me too, I find my self being inspired around that time. It's easier to think when there is no light.

reminds me of the song Sober by Tool:

Tool guitarist Adam Jones has stated in an interview that the song is about a friend of the band whose artistic expression only comes out when he is under the influence. "A lot of people give him shit for that," Jones explains. "If you become addicted and a junkie, well, that's your fault."

maybe that cheers you up? i don't know, there are different moments in which a person gets sort of hit by inspiration, to each his own, right?

I tend to write better songs when I'm high, or a little bit drunk.
When I'm sober it won't come out that easy.

This. It's pretty similar to your standards of the opposite sex when you're drunk and sober.

Maybe your just more relaxed and arent trying so hard when your drunk?

I found its easier for me to write when slightly innebriated. however u spell that... anyways, i will usually split a j and a 40 with my jammin buddy. this summer we discovered black tar (Heroin) and im not advertising for it but it helps us write.
it helps me feel the music more
And after jus smokin some i can tell u its like bein drunk but with a more euphoric feel. same general creativity though
