alright now,

is it really possible for me to plug my bass into a normal guitar processor with a recording interface and start recording?

if its possible, can you name a few models which have this facility?

As long as it's not going through a guitar amp speaker you can plug your bass into anything. I'd definitely recommend the Line 6 stuff

How do you physically download an album? Like run your computer off a dynamo on an exercise bike?

If it has a built in EQ you may lose some low end but it certainly won't break anything.

I've used a digitech GNX300 with very good results. It's good got bass-specific models.

The line 6 POD studios sound good as well, but I like the GNX better.
Nope, no sig here.
