Yes that's me, an amp noob.

I don't know if anyone knows any amps which are good for rock and metal?
The rockier side I was thinking of Foo Fighters and 30 Seconds to Mars kinda sound. And going up to metal/metalcore the sound of Every Time I Die, Killswitch Engage and if at a push Devildriver.

Really I want an amp which is flexible, something that can play well in the rock and metal area.

I don't have a preference on what kind of amp, since I'm quite new to them although I've heard tube amps are normally the better sounding in most cases.
Price range up £600-£800? I could stretch, I just want an idea.
Thanks!

and then there's free jazz, which isn't even for musicians.

As my old guitar teacher once said: Metal really comes from classical music. The only difference is pinch harmonics, double bass, and lyrics about killing goats.

Someone said the AT-100. First, good call If you don't wanna go tube/can't afford to go tube, the cheaper cousin to the AT is the LS-100. It's solid state, but it delivers the power with some pretty decent crunch. if you want really heavy chug though, stick a pedal in front of it/in the loop. THE THING WILL NOT DIE. I swear it's indestructible. Most heavy-duty amp/cab setup I've ever seen. Anywho, that's my two cents' worth.
Gig Rig:

Schecter Hellraiser V-1
Crate BV120H
B-52 LS 4x12 cabinet
BBE Rackmount Sonic Max
Boss ME-50 Pedalboard
Digital Reference 2505 Wireless

I don't like BTBAM. Sue Me.
