a lot of universities have open tryouts to be on the team, but making the team is really hard without the experience.

I don't know, the amount of training at a high school is ridiculous I wouldn't want to experience that shit in College.
No means maybe

Wait, are you going to university in England or America? I wouldn't imagine that the standard in England is anywhere near what it is in America. Unless they have multiple divisions in America, you'd be pretty ****ed.

Not really, the two sports are pretty different, my experience with with people who played rugby and thing they can switch over to football without a lot of training tend to get get crushed, they stand straight up at the wrong time, perform illegal actions and various other crap, I'm sure it's the same with football players switching over to rugby as well.

If this university is in England they will probably teach you, if it's in the U.S. you don't stand a chance.

There's only two things you need to be a great football player, balls and athleticism, balls being infinitely more important.

As long as your hard as fuck you're pretty much a lock to make the team.

Im on the team at SM West Highschool. Guys who are just starting out often take 1-2 years to really get the hang of it and find their niche. Until then, just abut everyone looks down on you as dirt, its unfortunate but its just how it goes. What position do you think you'd like to play? And make sure you understand the rules of the damn game. Nothing pisses us off worse than a walk on who doesnt even know the ****ing game. I had one tool walk up to me (after he'd made a total fool of himself by running onto the field at the wrong time) "Wait, so we kick the extra point AFTER we score a touchdown, What the ****?" I about killed him then and there.

its really a pretty easy sport to play, you just have to be willing to get hit. other than that if your semi-athletic you should make the team.

Being a walk on with no other real experience is pretty much impossible.

He's in England. Going to school in England. I'd imagine they're used to getting people up to speed. I'm sure they don't have USC or Fla. on their schedule. Although Michigan might want to play them.

Are you trolling? American football isn't easy to play at all. Not at the colllege level that's for sure. You have to be in top physical condition(sort of, lineman are basically fat guys) you have to watch tons of film, practice for hours. It's really not easy to play competitively at all.

Kicker?

No worse position to play on the field. You get the game put on your shoulders at the end of the game to tie or win the game, you fail your hated. Succeed, and no one cares. For the love of all that is holy, you do NOT want to be the kicker. If anything, be the punter. Atleast they tend to get SOME respect.

But yea, go for it. Just make sure you understand the rules before trying out. No harm no foul, who knows, you might be the next Peyton Manning! Or Jeff Feagles if your the Punter......

im still not 100% sure what TS is asking, but if youre looking to tryout as a walk on with no football experience, you could probably make special teams or practice squad in a lower division college if you are fast and strong enough.

dont expect to walk out there with no experience and be able to play offense or defense when you cant look at the field and see plays developing and know how to attack/defend it. same with any sport really.

If it's in the UK u'll definitely be fine. I played for my university's american football team last year and they start every year at a level where it's ok if people haven't had any or not much experience beforehand.

No they don't, and UG is proof...
