Im looking to get a tone similar to Randy's on Mr. Crowley. I have a Dean Markley K-50 amp and an Eleca Les Paul. The settings i have on the amp are Drive, Treble, Mid-range, Bass, and Reverb. any help would be greatly appreciated. Don't say get new gear cause I cant afford it at the moment. Also the amp has 8 little switches on the back that say Drive Voicing and apparently they alter your tone. If anyone has any idea what switches do what that would help alot too. Thank You.

What are the choices for the voicing switches? I would say if British is a choice go with that haha

Otherwise try something like: Bass:7 Mid:6 Treble:8 Drive:8

Then a tad of reverb.

Get back to me and tell me if it's even close haha

just dick around with it until it sounds right

Exactly.

Though what you want for Randy's tone is a modded Marshall Plexi, cranked.
Expensive, and unbelievably loud.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

Alright, less treble and more mids/bass...then mess with those voicing switches to figure out which is best.

There's a rule against settings threads. You can find it in the stickies of Guitar Gear & Accessories.

Just so you know, I read everything you type in a Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs voice.
