hi, ive been thinking of getting a new guitar for a while, and i want a step up from my epiphone Les Paul Custom (with seymour duncans) and my hollowbody (by a brand no one really knows).

i play mostly bluesy stuff and alternative, right now im loving BB King, SRV, Radiohead, Brand New, Incubus. My main amp right now as im at university is my Blackstar HT-5, btu at home i have a Vox AC30CC1.

Im thinking of getting a guitar with punchy, fat sounding single coils.
i like the neck style on my epiphone, and never really been a fan of the necks on the telecaster or strat my mate has. i really like the look of jazzmasters, and want to get a chance to try one out.
id like a tremolo tail peice too

in terms of price im thinking around the £600-700 mark, as i may ask as a combined chistmas present from family, but if you feel its worth saving longer, im willing to

any other suggestions? maybe alternative, lesser known brands?
im planning on trying stuff out next weekend, and if i find a guitar i really like, i may even trade in my hutchins (hollowbody)

cheers for any help

By tremolo you mean floyd rose or strat style or 2 point floating style (american strats)? And pickup layout is S/S/S or H/S/S or H/S/H or what ever other combination?

i just mean a normal tremolo, strat style, not floyd rose or anything similar, no divebombs for me. im not totally sure of what the difference between a regular strat tremolo or a 2 point is, i would only use the tremolo for light vibrato. i was thinking just single coils.

im really liking the look of the classic player jazzmasters, despite the higher output pickups, can they still get classic JM tones? and can they get classic fender sounds? im thinking the higher output may be good for my styles of music
would a classic player be recomended over the cheaper japanese made ones? ('62 reissue i think) i heard the japanese ones are more like strat pickups in a bigger cover.

Trust me and hurry up to guitar center there is one particular
guitar you must find for a mega deal. The Schecter C1+
was on sale for 399 and use to cost 650 so it was marked
down!! you can change the pickups on it but you get a high
quality ALL mahogany guitar even neck no maple, and it
sounds pretty amazing stock but even better with different pickups

I got the color thats not available on the web site but all the gutiarcenters
carry the one I got

Honestly this thing can play anything from Jazz to Drop-A mind you having
the right gauge strings, the intonation hasn't been a problem

The 24.75 scale makes it really great for small people like me
that a les paul hurts them to play, the intonation was a "tiny"
bit off on Drop-G but hey no use going that far

well really if you were to buy and equal ESP it would cost 1500 or so
its just a guitar with lots of sustain and fairly cheap but only
to the states I suppose. its on musicians friend as well but
It was just a suggestion

I don't think theirs any mahagony thru neck and body
guitar for cheaper than 400 right now just change pickups
to what suits your style it has split coil pop pot as well
