So, I was in Guitar Center yesterday and I saw this...

Needless to say, I was quite confused.
#3
Yeah. Basically a crappy guitar with a meh-tastic starter amp, what is sure to be a crappy strap, and a songbook full of songs from Rock Band. And, of course, horrendously overpriced

Oh I know it's a piece of crap, but I was dumbfounded that Rock Band would be used to sell a real guitar.

Some anti rockband/guitar hero guys would class this as a step in the right direction. I however just see it as cashing in on developing(fake to real) players. Kudos to them for the smart business idea.

This is basically a slap in the face to anyone who doesn't think Fender has 'sold out' or wants to 'get money'.
Smart move by Fender's part, this should generate some sort of profit for them.

I disagree.

Think of all the Metallica riffs being slopped out by 10 year olds at GC, now the games themselves are encouraging that. I wish the kids would stick too their 5 plastic buttons...

Think of when you couldn't play any metallica riffs at all?

you sound like an ass.

Ummm, so, this isn't the first time Fender cashed in on a popular brand, Hello Kitty Strat anyone? You could also argue that this is no different than producing a Signature guitar model. It's using something popular to help sell your poduct.

First TS, What styles do you like to play?

If you like the sort of songs that are on RockBand then I guess i would be a good choice.

I say go for it.

What's wrong with Metallica?
Are you Dave Mustain or what?

However, it's probably a good marketing idea, don't know how successful it will get though. It won't be much worse than any other starter packs from Squier I guess.

So essentially what you're saying is that there should be no new guitarists, making the art of guitar playing nonexistent when all of us current guitar players die. Bravo.
#22
Haha. I had a Starcaster, luckily it wasn't that cheesy RockBand one. I've seen that a million times. At first glance, i backed away and frantically ran away.

I'am just pissed my starter kit came with a Fender frontman 15r amp and these yahoos are giving them a 25r. Bastards.

That's my point.
People have treated Fender as this holy guitar company, never making mistakes, and always making guitars just so that we can have guitars. Partially true, except we pay them money. There's several face-palmy Fender items I can mention (which Fender made so they can get money, not to make good guitars), that are quite apparent, but people seem to ignore them because Fender 'iz t3h pwnz0rs'.
#31
ok...
wouldnt buy it, dont get why they had to do this
#32
I wouldn't buy it but I have to disagree this is a step in the right direction. (Besides Fender partnering with Rock Band) I think we should put more kids on guitar let them discover music instead of in a video game. I mean if you can get Expert 100% then I expect you to pick up a real guitar.
