ok so im getting a fender deville for christmas and i've got an american standard strat. i currently have a crybaby and a ts9. i've already decided i need a pedal tuner so im looking at the fender pt100. i was just wondering what other pedals are must haves for a good variety of sound. i plays blues, blues/rock, classic rock and reggae. biggest influences would be hendrix, clapton, john mayer, srv and that style along with jimmy page and guys like that.

yes, pointing it at your head will send the sound towards your head.

it's the same with guns too, before you go testing that one.

- Delay (analog delay for your style of playing) - EHX Memory Toy
- EQ (can't go wrong with one) - MXR 10-band
- Reverb (if your amp doesn't have one)
- Compressor (I heard it's useful for reggae)
- Fuzz (for Hendrix)

There are many fuzzes, unfortunately I'm not so good with them, but from demos I really liked the Voodoolab Proctavia, which is a replica of Hendrix' octave fuzz.

appreciate it. does anyone know whether it would be better to use the effects loop on a deville or just go straight in?

For clapton and jimmy page I recommend the JMI Rangemaster - http://www.jmiamplification.com/

You'll find whisky very different, but try it and you'll grow into it, soon you and whisky are one, but still two, lovers dancing across a frozen lake under moonlight, wrapped in honey and warmth.

Sums up whisky perfectly

For cheap fuzz, try the danelectro cool cat fuzz. Or the Artec fuzztown is pretty cool fuzz aswell.

As far I know wah and distortion/OD effects go straight into the amp, EQ's and modulation effects like the reverb and delay go into the FX loop.
