Here's something that's been on the tip of my tongue for a while. C4C

I saw you waiting in the dark at my door
coated with a layer of snow
as thick as your clothes.
Shivering like a child
in the absence of the womb.

Moonlights and car lights
streaming through my bedroom windows.
Your shadow thrown in vulgar displays
of desperate motion
upon the snow.

Ribbons of birds
hanging from telephone wires,
staring through curtains
with a calculating eye.
The birds are watching from their birds eye view,
and I’m watching you.

The snowflakes lay heavy on your eyelids,
weighing your fragile skeleton down.
I’m here to help you defy gravity,
defy these cinder blocks perched on your skin and cheeks.

I want to throw up everything inside
just so I can feel a little more vacant;
all these organs sitting stagnant
never had much use from the start.

But here you go again,
making me feel like I’m a little bit more
than just a network of warm-blooded veins.

I saw you waiting in the dark at my door,
coated with a layer of snow
as thick as your clothes.
Shivering like a child,
but I’m by your side,
because you never did have skin like trees
to keep yourself warm
in the coldest breeze.
