I've looked everywhere for this answer, but with not much luck.

I'm re-building an LP style guitar and I want to put a standard tune-o-matic style bridge on it. I bought a new neck thats about 56mm wide at the base or heel. How wide should the string spread be on the bridge? And is there a general rule for this measurement?

I had a neck where the bridge was too wide and the strings always slid off the side of the neck while playing. I really want to avoid this problem again.

2 1/16" is a pretty common string spread on a TOM bridge. There are few with rollers that are adjustable. Dont have a LP sitting in front of me to measure the heel.
