Is there anyway to preserve the gold plating finish on hardware? I have a 2 yr old LTD EC-1000 and the hardware looks terrible now. Im thinking about buying a different LTD and I really want to take care of it. Any ideas? and in genereal, how do you maintain your guitars? Thanks!

I don't know what can really be done now to bring the gold color back, but a good rule I follow is to wipe my guitar body neck and hardware all down with a soft cloth after ever practice or jam session. You gotta get the sweat and dead skin off everything as it will ruin your guitar over time.

Also, everytime I change strings I give the fretboard a good cleaning and use a detail brush to get dead skin out of PU cavities and out off all the floyd grooves that my skin powder loves to hide in.
