hey

on the back of my cabinet there are two speakon inputs labeled + and -.

which one do i connect my cable to?

theres clearly something im missing about how to properly connect speakons....

Speakons are a type of speaker plug/cable combo that you plug into and turn the cable to lock it in place.

I've never heard of these + - labels you speak of. what is the brand and model of your amp?

yeah i havent heard of the + and minus thing eather.

if you have speakon cables and you want to do bridge mono you have to match the terminals go to your amp's manual to learn how becuase differnt amps use different terminals. and they generally use standard wiring for single chanel.

Speakon calbes have 4 connections in them, 1+ 1- 2+ 2-. And depending on your amp, bridged of stereo it deoends on what way you wire them up. Maybe this has something to do with it.

Are you sure that it isn't +1 and -1 which is what the cables should be wired to inside the Speakon plugs?

On standard amplifier outputs and cabinet inputs yes.
On some amplifiers that Bi-amp along with the dedicated speaker cabs all four connections are used.
