I'm looking for a distortion pedal that gives me a Magnus Olsson lead type tone. Something incredibly smooth, with a lot of sustain.

Something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPQtlPMg8zw&feature=related

It almost ever so slightly dirty, but with loads of sustain. Any miscellaneous tips BESIDES guitars/amps etc. that hes using? And FYI he's using one of those old Engl Sovereign 100 Vintage amps and nothing else but delay.

^you're the troll
boss pedals suck, period.

edit: oops you were faster than me... change the ^ for a ^^

Haha. I wouldn't go that far but yes, most of them are shit. The only new things from BOSS I like are the DD-3 and GE-7. The SD-1 is also acceptable for the price.

Honestly, I've never heard an ENGL voiced pedal. I guess if you don't want to nail it, the best bet would be to get something smooth with a moderate amount of gain, maybe the AMT Tube Platinum along with an EQ to attempt a simulation of the ENGL voicing and a good delay/reverb.

I think a Wampler Ecstasy would get pretty close to that.
I have a huge fear if rays.

HA! Boss does not make good pedals. Atleast not for what he wants.
Someone got pulled into the METALZONE
My gear so far:

-Cort KX5 (pearl white)
-Crybaby Wah
-Danelectro Cool Cat
-Fender Twin Reverb 65' Reissue
-Hardwire TL2

ON TOPIC: Jetter Gainstage Gold. You'll thank me.

Nothing like an ENGL but it's exactly what you described. Incredibly fluid, smooth tone with a buttload of sustain.
