surely everyone experiences this ... an artist has one song you can't get enough of, but for some reason you're not really into them otherwise, whether it's because you just don't like their usual stuff or you just haven't had the time to properly listen to them.

Impossible by Pleasant Grove is a big one for me. it's this gorgeous atmospheric track and one of my favourite songs ever, but the previews of their other songs sound like country, which I'm not really into. Can't even remember how I found this gem...I think someone from another forum sent it to me?

Coheed and Cambria - Welcome Home is another one. I tried listening to the whole album it's from but it all just kinda blended together in a very meh way, and I found the singer's voice annoying. But I absolutely love Welcome Home. So epic and badass.

Los Campesinos! - Miserabilia ... they're a fun band and I did see them live when they came to my town (it was at a bar, pretty cheap), but out of everything I've heard from them, Miserabilia is the only song that really sticks out.

i have plenty more, but what are yours?

scissor sisters - return to oz

Has such a fantastic climax - the rest of their stuff is kinda poppy crap

EDIT: also 99 luftballoons by nena kinda defines this sort of thing being a major international hit and a fantastic song, but also their ONLY song to make it out of germany...

That was amazing! Like Pink Floyd, Rush, and The Eagles combined!
I then looked up their other stuff, and it was terrible...

and then there's free jazz, which isn't even for musicians.

As my old guitar teacher once said: Metal really comes from classical music. The only difference is pinch harmonics, double bass, and lyrics about killing goats.

Ahh well, best is such a subjective word...I don't really like the other stuff from them I've heard...maybe suggest a good one for me then?

I'm not the biggest nirvana fan, but In Bloom and Come as You Are are much better songs.

Pearl Jam - Alive.

I have tried alot of times to get into this band, and recently saw them do a bang up live performance on Austin City Limits ( a tv show in the United States on PBS - yes I am a nerd who watches PBS), but just cannot for the life of me get into them.
