I normally use Elixir Light strings and when i go to an alternate tuning like EEEEBE the strings are fine and i can play but when i go to tune back to standard tuning the strings snap. What are some strings that I could change back and forth quite a bit that would at least last a month or two?

Branding!?!? THAT'S TOO PROGRESSIVE! I say bring back settlement payments in weights of lead and impalement upon wooden stakes!

Oh! Sorry, I thought that was a braille name tag.

Make sure you don't tune up really quickly. I've tuned down to C standard and gone back to E standard and haven't broken any strings, and I'm using some old Dean Markley strings.
