Searchbar'd and didn't see anything.

Noticed a group (admitidly on Facebook) trying to get Killing in the Name to christmas number one in the UK charts. At first i thought this would never work as the group is purposefully trying to take on the X factor, however I noticed the group was already on 75,000 members. With this many numbers already i realised it might be possible.

So Pit whats your views on this, will you be buying the song after the 13th of December to add to the count.

And how many of those people will actually buy the song?

AÆdit: Though if it does work, it'll be on par with internet-reality crossovers like Rockrolling MTV and 4chan electing moot as Time's most influential person of the year.

Isn't there another group trying to get Journey to number one? Though i'm guessing people will draw the line when it comes to Hannah Montana.

This is a good idea. Shame it'll fail. I'll still buy the single out of hope of it topping the piece of crap that'll be the Xfactor song.

Hell all of UG should buy it!

He didn't tell you to do any- oh wait

icwatudidthar......i think.

It'd be cool if it did reach no.1, but barely any of them will commit to it.
Still it'd be cool if it reached number one....

75,000 is nothing compared to what X-factor will sell, no matter how shit the winner or the song is.

I'm in the group I'll pick the single up. I'd love Fairytale of New York to get number 1 though, it's so beautiful and brilliant.

Why not choose a song with decent lyrics instead of one which would be an embarassment to music which requires some form of talent?

The only difference between this and the rickroll thing is that it involves money and is uk only. I've joined but I'm doubting it'll do anything.

I'm torn as to whether to plug this or the Journey one. I'll probably buy both.

I dont pay the slightest bit of attention to the charts, i couldnt really care who is number 1.
#38
i'll probably buy it just because i like the song and haven't bought it yet

Does anyone know (other than Itunes, I don't use it) how to buy the single?
I have the album but I'd rather not buy it again
Or will it be in shops as a single? (doubt it.)
