Just got my first 7 string today, Ibanez R7321 for $180. Not bad if you ask me.

I'm used to playing acoustic stuff, but that just wouldn't do for heavier music XD

So, any suggestions for good songs to work on?
I'm try A Steady Decline by After the Burial right now, but there's some parts just too damn fast for my fingers at the moment.

Anything else?

Squier P-Bass w/new pups

Washburn Acoustic Guitar
SWR LA 12

Down From The Sky - Trivium.

It's actually pretty decent, especially considering it's trivium.

Anything in B standard can be played on a 7 string in standard (provided you drop the G to an F#).

Also, it's RG7321, not R7321.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

Try "The Glass Prison" by Dream Theater. It's awesome!!

If you wanna try a bit of djent stuff, look at an Icarus Lives tab by Periphery. There's a lot of fun to be had with 7's!!

Thank you, and thank you.

My friend suggested Djent music, and I'm quite interested in it.

OH, and I guess I neglected the 'g' in RG7321. Heh, I'll change that.

Djent is just a joking term for chugga chugga metal.

nice score on the guitar!

7 string tunes? just about any song by the band nevermore! they're a bit tricky, but there's some easier parts to jam to as well.

It isn't a 7 string song, but it is in B. Try Amon Amarth - Pursuit of the Vikings. Super easy riffs, and you'll get the chunky sound of the 7 string pumping through your amp. DO IT!

Trivium's Kirisute Gomen, or Scar Symmetry's Morphogenesis. Both fairly easy, but impressive songs for a 7-string. Though you might have a bit of trouble finding a tab for the Scar Symmetry :-/

Suicide Silence and Whitechapel
But drop the B to an A
