So your born into the same world you were actually born in, but no internet. Never existed. How would you be different?

I don't think I'd be the same at all. The internet is what got me more curious in subjects like Science and Philosophy, and it's a place where I can hear an extremely wide variety of opinions. I'd never meet a socialist, anarchist, communist, satanist, etc. where I live. Before I started using the internet I was this sunshine christian who didn't believe in evolution and gay marriage (although to be fair, that was back when I was about 13).

Also, I think the internet has influenced a lot of people's humor. Because of the freedom and lack of censorship, there really has been a lot of shock humor on the internet that makes South Park look like Full House. It's also desensitized me a lot. Because of the internet, I've seen so much sh*t by accidentally clicking a wrong link that I could look at a gruesome mutilated body in a crime scene photo and not really be affected by it.

So how about you guys?

^Disregard my post, I second that.

I would have less friends, wouldn't have discovered the music I'm into, and would have less knowledge about everything.

I would be a lot better at guitar, not be nearly as lazy, and probably actually get stuff done from time to time.

There's still things called DVD's and VHS and magazines

There would be no FREE porn to fap to.

Yeah, I don't think I would be the same person at all.

I mean, I would probably still be just as curious about the world, etc. I would be the same core person, but I wouldn't have had the proper resources to be able to get information on the things I love.

I probably wouldn't love music as much (which pains me so deeply just to think about), I wouldn't have the same humor, etc.

It sounds sad, but most of the things I love about myself wouldn't be as prevalent in my life without the internet.

I don't think teenagers can get porn movies, at least not outside of the internet.

If there was no internet, then the market for porn on video/DVD, etc would still be thriving. There would be enough people 18+ that would sell/give porn to teens. And, if not that, then the teens would find porn just like they did all the years before the internet, and just steal it from parents, friends, etc.

Just saying. The internet only made porn more accessible. Teens have ALWAYS found a way to fap as much as they like.

I would:

-only know about the music played on the local pop station, and most likely hardly any of the bands I listen to
-know a fraction of what I do about philosophy, pop culture, history, science, music, and very many other subjects
-possibly still be a Christian (I think that eventually I would have realized everything, but I think the Internet sped things along)
-be less of a lifeless geek. Damn you, WoW!

I'm sure there's many more significant things, but that's all I can think of for now

I'm not saying it would be impossible, I'm saying that it would be much more difficult.

I'm sure that nowadays we fap a lot more than your parents did when they were our age.

I was a teenager when there was no internet, but I am still the same person now and don't think it changed much. It made stuff more accesible (music, pron, etcetera) but back then we used to buy music magazines, go to a library and trade tapes to find out about stuff and new music.

And believe me, before the internet there were ways to get porn for the underaged...

I don't know.... I mean, my parents were far hornier than I was/am at my age. My dad was breaking it off in chicks at 12, and my mom lost her virginity in her early teens. I'm still a virgin. My guess? I just never inherited my parents' libido.

Anyway, I still hold that people have always been just as horny, and fapped just as much as this generation. People were far more creative back then, as well. Because, as you said, porn wasn't as readily available. Sears Catalogs, semi-raunchy tv shows, magazines, etc.

They found a way to fap. If Jurassic Park taught us anything, it's that nature ALWAYS finds a way.

Without the internet, I never would have got a bass guitar in the first place. I'd be stuck listening to pop and country music (we have no good stations), and I'd probably be less of a Christian because I wouldn't have found all this stuff that affirms the Bible, so there you go

With fapping less or a lot I meant as in, they spent 3 hours finding something at least decent to fap with, now you just spend around 5 or 15 minutes in finding something to watch for free.

I wouldn't be playing guitar, that's for sure. Dad's a guitarist, but I have a hard time learning from him. Thanks to the internet, there are tabs for the songs I want to play, reviews for determining what instruments are best for me, and videos to teach me the techniques I need. If learning wasn't that easy, I probably wouldn't have bothered.

5 or 15 minutes? You're looking in all the wrong places. With internet speed, and the porn sites out there, if you can't find something to fap to in 30 seconds, you're doing it all wrong

For one, I doubt I'd be deistic. I probably would have retained my liberal version of Christianity, but I don't think I would have rejected it without exposure to other points of view. (And believe me, there are no other points of view in my corner of the world.) I'd probably be more politically conservative as well.

I also figure I wouldn't know nearly as much about the world. The Internet is nearly the only exposure I've ever had to other cultures and other places in the world, save for a few foreign exchange students.
