Hello fellow guitarists and UK residents, here's the skinny.

I'm building a website as part of my final year degree work, it is not going live unless I think of something really innovative and can avoid copyright amongst other things, but it does have to be "fit for purpose".

Its a UK focused guitar website, with the intention of providing a springboard to emerging UK companies, luthiers, hardware manufacturers, specialist communities etc...

So, basically, as part of some very general and purposely unfocused "market research" what kind of things would you like to see on such a site?

Anything constructive welcome Thanks in advance!

Why is it that some folks quote praise from other members in their sig lines?
Its lame.

That is actually an awesome idea. It's so hard to find decent gear at decent prices in the UK. Kudos sir.

Great Idea man You must tell us when its finished

Id go with the gear and lists of dealers, and also add review features for all of them, as its so hard to find decent reviews for lesser know gear. I also love the idea about lesser known live acts, maybe you could also look into getting some pre-sale tickets for certain acts, can certainly make some money from that

All in all, great idea, let me know when finished, because I will cetainly check it out

Wow thanks guys, hadn't thought of a trades section that would be awesome. A list of authorized dealers is a damn good idea too...

But yeah Im always scouring through Google trying to find new UK pickups, expert luthiers and other niche stuff, so I gathered others must be too.

Gear reviews would be very nice, I used to do reviews for a very well established PC hardware site... so I know the game, unfortunately I do not have the budget to cover the gear myself, and I doubt any manufacturers would send samples to an offline review site with zero traffic.

Keep the ideas coming, im very grateful

If you're looking to provide a 'springboard' to these emerging talents, you could try interviewing them, or running chat sessions through your site with them.
Bring them out from the workshop once in a while to tell people what they're doing, why it's awesome and why the guitar-using public of the UK ought to buy their shit.
