Hey UG, I have a friend who says the public thinks the Forces tortures its recruits. I as a member of the public thought that was bull, I think if you sign up for the military you should expect a few pushups here and there and to get yelled at. Especially with the way hollywood portrays military training. What does the public actually think?

I consider gravity force, and I hate what it does to innocent soldiers.

I have no experience with the forces, though a couple of my friends have joined. They've never mentioned anything to me about how terrible it was : /

Actually my older cousin has been with the military for like 10 years.

I didn't mean just the army. And on that note our Air Force has beaten you guys a few times at your own Top Gun in our 40 year old fighters lol.

You mean like gravitational forces and stuff? I guess they're pretty ok. I'm quite a fan of elastic forces.

It's pretty difficult to jump on couches in a fighter jet. I can't see how that'd be very productive either haha

What forces...? Kidding. Our Air Force actually has some of the best pilots in the world. It's a shame that our equipment really sucks. As well, the Canadian forces are known for being good snipers.

Anyway, its not that bad. My friend is in the army reserves as a musician. It's not that bad, really. You just do all the standard stuff... tear gas, running for long periods of time, weapons training... Nothing even close to what it would take to be a Ranger or a Commando in the US Military.
Equipment:

Our Forces are well-trained for what we get sent to do (i.e. Peacekeeping missions). We don't do so well in full-on combat missions where we are on the offensive. Plus we get by with a lot of older equipment.

It always surprises me when I see that JTF2 (Canadian Special Forces) is outfitted better than some of our overseas troops are.

^ Didn't know that. Anyway, my high school music teacher's been in the army reserves for about 15+ years now. He would always talk about how ridiculously good a shot some of his division mates were.

The job of a military is to kill people and break things. It can train its recruits however it damned well pleases if the recruits are volunteers and are aware of what they're getting into.

I find it hard to believe we are torturing civilians.
I am proud of our forces though, we have much better trained ground pounders than a lot of countries with bigger armies. We seem it lack in amazing officers however.

National militaries are a tool of oppression. Freedom can never come from warfare. Comparing armies is like comparing which killing machine you prefer.

WW1 amazing, Canadians kick so much arse it was not funny. 60% of the population of Canada during the first world war went over seas. SIXTY PERCENT.

And some killing machines are more awesome than others.
I mean, a musket has a certain simple elegance, but it could never be as awesome as, say, a minigun, or a flame thrower.

Yes, because I have access to miniguns and flame throwers. It's really no problem to get a hold of a gun which fires thousands of rounds a minute, and that even Arnie in his prime couldn't have fired standing, in the UK.

That, even if I could afford to go play with a minigun, considering it probably fires about a weeks worth of my income every second or two, I really couldn't.
But the fact is that the minigun is one of the best things about Predator. Not as good as the one-liners and cheesey-ass acting, but it sets the tone for the thing.
