I've been thinking about upgrading the pups on my Squier Standard tele. Has anyone done this to theirs and which pups did you use and how much difference did it make. I do enjoy playing it but I'm just wondering whether I can make it just that little bit better? Any other mods worth considering (I know it's a Squier so nothing to expensive).

I like the obvious tele sound really, what would normally go into a fender tele?

Fender pickups go into Fenders Teles.

There's loads of options out there - www.irongear.co.uk have some nice pickups, and they are excellent value, I'm going to put a set in the new tele I'm putting together.

In general Squiers have good necks - you are unlikely to have issues with the tuners, as it's a fixed bridge (although if you do that's an easy upgrade). The things that let all guitars in that price range down tend to be the electrics and the pickups.

Assuming you have a decent amp, they'd be a good place to start.
