Hi guys... so christmas is coming and i want a new guitar. Ive been playing for 2 years and I currently have an Epi LP Special II...and i really want to upgrade. I play mostly screamo/post-hardcore like A Skylit drive, Silverstein, The Devil Wears Prada, A day to Remember, etc.. but i also play old school Metallica and some classic rock like Boston and Zeppelin...so i need a pretty versatile guitar. I also would like one with a trem, preferably a Floyd Rose sort of thing like double locking or whatever.. for my amp I have a peavey vypyr. My budget is not much more than 400-450, maybe 500 tops.

So...any suggestions?

Sounds like your best bet would be a Les Paul or SG. Agile makes really good ones for their price compared to the low end epi's. heres a link to their only dealer.

You'll have to scroll down to the Agiles. Pages 7 and up have the Agiles

with your music tastes so varied it's probable that you're changing tunings a lot. i'd recommend a 25.5" scale guitar, and especially for a diversity since you already own a LP. possibly a PRS SE, too. they're only a 25" scale, but they're extremely comfortable.

i'd steer away from another LP just because you already have one, but if you're absolutely in love with that body shape it might not be a bad thing to get a step up in the LP family, too. agiles are supposed to make some serious quality stuff (never owned one, but heard great things).

and just for the people after me, what amp are you playing on? some people will suggest a new amp before a guitar

When it comes down to it, you won't really get a really great gutiar
for that price range unless you were to get a guitar on sale.

You may can pull of some sort of ESP LTD guitar on E-bay for a fair price
or a decent wood Schecter guitar.

most importantly be sure to find a guitar body that fits you best!!
you can really damage your tendons if you play a guitar that is
not comfortable. I know, I've been there done that to a point
where I was out of playing for 2 months.

yes, it is easy to do and sometimes you won't notice it till its to late.
You want a guitar that will also keep your chord hand's wrist straight
on the whole neck

Idk if i can blame being uncomfortably 100% of the reason though.. Considering my use of rly heavy gauge strings.

er naw, I just find them easier to handle on harmonics and tremolo picking
however I found that Ernie Balls only sound good with thin picks where
the D'addarios sound better with both skinny and thick.
