Not sure if this should be in the 'What should I play" forum.

For one of my class projects I'm supposed to take a well known song and cover it in a completely different genre. I'm thinking of taking a pop song and turning it into metal, similar to Megadeth's cover of 'These Boots are Made for Walking' but I can't think of a good song, any suggestions?

Lady Gaga - Bad Romance.

I'm not even kidding.

Waits totally has a metal voice: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHyvjdn4rFk

And maybe a bit of a stretch, buuuut it would be nice: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVBY0BmdT9c

EDIT: I think bad romance would sound much more pleasant as a metal song than as a pop song. The chorus would actually be pretty beastly sounding, instead of being annoying as all hell

pop to metal songs are generally horrible, i say be individual and take punk/rock and make it metal, if you do that i reckon 'three days grace' would be pretty sweet.

Ahab should totally cover Clap Hands.

Listen to TheBlessed Dead. The man is a genius. There should be a man of genius song about him. Stephen Hawking has nothing on TheBlessed Dead.

Could be good.
Never actually heard the song before (we're still on Paparazzi here) so saw the video on YouTube.
I think... I think it was about the most disturbing music video I have ever seen...

Well loads of people did Pokerface, and Bad Romance is a better song, so no reason why it couldn't work

You did do a rap cover of Evisceration Plague (Cannibal Corpse), vocals are already quite rappy
...I like metal.

Well Yngwie covered ABBA's Gimme Gimme Gimme and he did a pretty decent job so pop to metal may not always turn out bad.

PTC I am working on a cover of Bad Romance by Lady Gaga now.
PTC I love youtube comments on the video of said song.
i think she looks stunning when she has the thong on with the black eye liner and bright make up. It remind me of a classic beauty.

Odd. Because she reminds me of a prostitute from the year 3040.

Seriously? Why did anyone have to bring up Bad Romance by Lady Gaga? It's been stuck in my head all day! >.< "Mah-mah Ro-mah-mahah. Gah-gah romah-mahah!"

And in case this hasn't been mentioned: Raintime's cover of "Beat It" is an awesome pop to metal cover:

You'll never guess....

A Tribute To Abba

They pulled out all the stops on that name for sure.

The weirdest thing about it is that a number of those bands doing the tribute are actually good
