I have never heard the Vox but I have heard the Boss Gt-6 and Gt-8 and really liked the sound of those. You can find them used for a little more than $200 I believe.
Stuff I use:

Schecter C-1 Classic
Ibanez RG350DX
Peavey 5150 (Signature)
Marshall 1960AV

The Boss GT amp models leave a lot to be desired IMO.

Best amp models so far are the line 6 pod X3 and the Axe-FX

though I wonder bout another one I've seen.. .forgot the name, but it was orange and rackmount

'Practice amp' = amp you practice with? In my case, Peavey 6505+ and 4x12

System Eleven.

Someone on UG tried it... and the amp models don't exactly match up to the AxeFX... altho it is half the price of an AxeFX.

Ya, there were two things what made me wonder: what it can do and what it would cost.

looked awesome tho.

Yeah... its got a rather sleek design... but it has only like 10 or so amp models... and the algorithms are rather meh I understand. However it does cost half of what an AxeFX would... so... yeah...

Can't say for sure.

I know how powerful the POD line is... but I've not had more than 3 collective hours on it... and I've not had the chance to sit down and tweak them... so I reserve my comments.

Altho while I find that some of their high gain models were pretty awesome... it wasn't dead faithful. Particularly the Mesa models.

Nah true, and it doesn't mimic the tubeyness like the Axe-FX does.

Then again, bearing in mind you get 'bout 80 amps for 600 bucks, it is insane.

And I'll be able to give you a better review once I get my pod X3 live, got quite some things to try out

It did Racer X and Paul Gilbert stuff really well though (although I'll be honest that that's more depending on the phrasing )

The X3? sure.

Once my dad has a job again I know I can invest money in gear.... Expect a NGD/NGDS soon after that

Cause I'll also need better headphones

... better software

... better pickups

...new strings..

negative ghostrider...

vox modeling beats the dog shit out of roland in everything except extremely high end synths/keyboards... and even in those cases, their real value is their ability to accept third party banks.

vox is the new kid on the floor-based multi fx block, but it's still a way better value than the boss multi's... any of them... garbage.

Sadly enough Roland Boss can't cut it for amp sims no more.
