As we all know (unless you live under a rock) today, December 8th 2009, is the 29 year anniversary of the death of one of the most influential musicians of all time, John Lennon.
This is basically a memorial thread... so share all of your thoughts and feeling on anything related to John and his music.

*i searched and found an already dead thread and wanted to try and start up a bigger one

I love the ending to GnR's "Catcher in the Rye".

Meh.

Damn hippies.

He has had negligible effect on my life,
but I guess that just has to do with being born years after his death.
Blindfolds aside I'd probably still close my eyes

And try to feel a trembling fetal life inside
that shotgun barrel that's about to make me bleed

Like an ulcer in the stomach of the beast

Nobody seems to understand the importance of the day anywhere... haven't seen many internet articles or TV reports... it's a little depressing.

Happiness is a Warm Gun is still one of my favorite Lennon songs. Glass Onion is amazing as well.
To be at peace would be a sin. It's surely unAmerican.

Not to be rude but Jim Morrison didn't have the impact on music as a whole that Lennon had... He just kind of did a ton of acid and talked about snakes and lakes.

Imagine is a sad song because i listen to lyrics and slowly realize that they will never come true. As much as I might want it to it will never happen. That right there makes me sad, but I guess we must live on and continue a search for peace and happiness because at the end of the day what else do we have?
