It's a process of un-doing the screws, followed by only touching the chassy (Don't touch the capacitors, or the wiring to/from the capacitor)

I said in the OP... If you are unsure, don't open it. I would prefer if you didn't encourage people to open up their amps unnecessarily.

@kurtlives:

i'd have to say cathbard and kurtlives are in the lead so far. with the GA50rvt getting a very honorable mention. makes me wanna post something, but i have nothing to compete against cath and kurts. also, it's a pain in the ass getting the chassis out most my amps. the only ones i have done are the music man amps i own, mainly cuz that is the only way to date them.

JCM 800 2204 Hoping maybe somebody could help me figure out what this extra jack and pot are for on the back here. Been a mystery since I bought it. Supposedly the amp was owned by someone who played with the Allman brothers and this mod was done during that time.

It's not so much of a push as a notification of how. In the end if he isn't comfortable then yes, he shouldn't do it.

Same.

That and it's a PITA to get the Super 60 out of the chasis, since it's mounted upside down in the top of the amp . Damned rack heads.

EDIT: I have some somewhat-vintage SS amp pr0n if you want it posted. I could take the Flextone apart too

Here ya go. 93 Kustom KAA30. My best sounding SS amp as far as hard clipping goes. Sounds pretty awesome pushed. Definitely modeled after their 60s amps. Best part is it's an acoustic amp

Kustom:

This is as far as I can get into the Super 60 without tearing the entire amp apart . Look at the size of the transformers..... Friggin' tanks.

Internally fused Canadian 2204, which desperately needs a turret board and new filter capacitors.

'64 Silvertone 1484. Lookit the funny vintage diodes in the rectifier section!

Also, longest chassis screws ever! They weren't fun at all to manually remove.

As a bonus, a couple of Greenlee hex drivers preparing to prison greet my poor Klein 10-in-1.
