So I'm thinking of buying a new axe. I have narrowed my choices down to two. The first is a Fender Telecaster (I'm stuck between the standard or Tele deluxe) and the second is the Schecter Tempest Custom. I've read tons of reviews and seen some videos, but I'm still a little stuck. I play everything (literally, everything) so versatility is a big factor. I'd be playing through a Peavey Valveking 212. So, opinions anyone?

I don't know, put a Duncan hot rail in the bridge of a telecaster and it shreds better for metal than any schecter I've played, I just really like the necks of the teles tho, it just plays really easy for me. Try both, see which one you like better. Most of the things that make both guitars so great are personal opinions.

Comfort is always superior to tone. It takes much more work to make a neck/body comfortable than it does to make it sound good.

The '72 Tele Deluxe is one of the most versatile guitars out there IMO.
Tons of good deals on Harmony Central and Sevenstring.org.
