I wrote a little riff for a verse but I cant seem to find the key of it.

It starts with an Am7. Then i do a walk up the A string (2nd fret B,3 fret C) with the top of the chord remaining the same. The I go down to an Em with the index still on the 2nd string 1st fret(C). So it goes:

0 0 0 0
2 0 0 2
0 2 3 2
x x x 0

I do have basic theory knowledge, this one is just throwing me for a loop. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It could either be in the key of Am (C major) or Em (G major). There's no F or F#, so you can't really choose a definitive answer.

id say in A minor, due to the fact that you have an E at the end of that phrase, which can pull to the A minor. v->i cadence in A minor
