I'm looking to get another overdrive pedal mostly to tighten and thicken up my rhythm tone and to be able to sound good enough to use as a single source of gain.
I havn't really narrowed it down yet but I am open to other options.
So far:

Maxon OD808
T Rex Alberta
Fulltone OCD
Fulltone Fulldrive 2 MOSFET
Xotic BB Preamp
Catalinbread Silver Kiss
Catalinbread Super Charged Overdrive
CatalinbreadDirty Little Secret
Subdecay Liquid Sunshine
Homebrew Electronics Power Screamer
Diamond J Drive MkIII
Lovepedal Purple Plexi

Which one of these would be best to do the things i asked for?
My budget is ~$230 but I can stretch that.

EDIT: others i'm considering include:

Xotic AC Booster
Xotic RC Booster

Hey man, how much gain do you need from the stompbox alone? If you love the sound of your amp, and want the OD to keep that sound while boosting it (keeping it transparent), i'd say Fulltone Fulldrive II. I LOVED mine, only let it go b/c i didn't need it anymore. That pedal is beautiful. The OCD adds some hair and it's own characteristics from what i've read. You can't go wrong with Fulltone.

Good luck finding a Catalinbread Silverkiss...

The OCD does add its own voicing. Same thing for the Catalinbread DLS... it's voicing impact can be quite drastic.

Ocd V4 was very unimpressive...........With My Budda I'm back to just a ts9 and a 10 band and it sounds fantastic!. What kinda gear are you working with??

Xotic's line, as a whole, is quite transparent... more so than most, if that helps.

thanks grisky, i will probably be going for a more transparent overdrive as I still wanna retain the tone im getting but wanna add a bit of 'grit' and 'balls' to the current sound.
So based on what people have already said, the more transparent pedals are:

Fulldrive 2 MOFSET
Xotic RC, AC and BB

I found someone who wants to sell a silver kiss locally.

Are these pedals tranparent?

Xotic BB Plus.

It really can't get better than this. I just purchased one and it's amazing. Extremely organic, very transparent and more tonal options then you'll ever need. It stomps TubeScreamers and Maxon's easily.

You can use one channel to beef up your overall tone and use the second to boost your leads.

You can get them in mint/like new condition for under $190 all the time on eBay or craigslist (I got mine for $175 shipped).

To be honest, anything from that list will sound great for what you want.

Personally I'd go for a Crowther Hotcake, Fulldrive II, or maybe a Skreddy Screwdriver.
