How do I keep my fingers from getting unplayble during cold weather?

#1
I have a gig in like 3 hours and we're doing an outside show and it's so f*cking cold. I need ways to keep my hands from being unable to play. I'm thinking of buying some hand warmers and getting some gloves with cut of finger holes but is there anything else I can do?

Warm up a lot and wear fingerless gloves.

Wrong forum, BTW.

As long as you keep your fingers moving then you should be fine

Trust me. That doesn't do anything. I was outside for like 30 mins and my hands just got worse.

Connect two 9v batteries together end on end. Wait a couple minutes for them to heat up, and hold them in a fist until you play.

Warm water is what i use.

But prog rockers tend to use a lighted splif, death metal guys use warm blood from their own wrists and country palyers use a cows ass.

Take ya pick!

Time on earth is like butterscotch; you really want more, even though it will probably just make you ill.

Slap your back, over your shoulder. This sends a rush of blood to your fingers, which should warm them up. Otherwise, get a little bowl of warm water nearby that you can dip your fingers into.

Fingerless gloves, yes, never heard the biting one, but that's pretty cool, gotta say.

Warm-up wise, if you don't have "warm up song" or whatever, just do every scale you know chromatically, getting faster as you go, and but don't start too long before you go on, or else you'll get cold again or even more worn out than you wanna be at the beginning of a gig.

I was gonna say somethin' else....
Anyways, have agreat time with it. =D
#14
Warm water is a pretty dumb idea, by the way. As soon as you remove your fingers from the water, they'll get even colder.

...it's so cold. COLD!!!!!!!!!

Like real cold. My hands being out of my pocket makes them cold. I'll try my best but I use the feeling of my fingers to play, and they get SO numb.

Try buying those cheap thin gloves, get 2 pairs. Cut them where that line on top your finger ends. Where them and play?

Keep out of the wind while playing!

As far as staying warm, water will work, but keep your hands dry. Wear platic gloves perhaps. Wet hands are a no no in cold weather, they'll dry out. Fingerless gloves could work, but practice with them inside first!

No, they won't. If you don't thrash your entire upper body around like a little douchebag, it will just look like you're stretching and warming up.

This. Do it alternatively, like one goes then the other, etc. This would be an obvious warm-up to me. Especially if accompanied with no music...

are you serious? how hard do you have to bite?

Fingerless gloves don't work either. What do you use to play? Your fingers. What do fingerless gloves not cover? Your fingers. They will still be freezing.

Totally cereal. Although outdoor gigs still suck cock because getting a decent sound is easy as balancing a coked up squirrel on a hairpin.

And you have to bite until it hurts a good bit, but no blood or anything. That works for me anyway.

just cut the tips of the fingers off then...

Before the gig, put your hand on your crotch. Not even kidding. But in front of the audience, hand warmers will do the trick.

If the rest of your body is very very warm, you wont have much trouble. Wear a really thick coat, your biggest sweater, some long underwear, really fat hat, maybe some snowpants even.

The reason your fingers get cold is because your body would rather loose a finger or two and keep your ballsack. Just keep your entire body warm and youll barely even notice.
