So, i just ordered a 1978 MXR Flanger from USA (i live in europe). Now this model at that time had a build in transformer and ac cord. is it compatabile with europe (230V) or do i have to change the transformer?

Nope, you're SOL unless you actually want to change the internal transformer or get a stepdown transformer.

Not that you can't change the transformer. I dunno if guitar shops deal with this kind of thing, but you'd be better off getting a professional to do something like this where you're working with such high voltages - if you **** up, there could be consequences.

edit: ^is it rated at 100W or less? The equation for power is voltage times current.

well theres a range from 45w to 300W, i dont know the values though but i dont think a stompbox will use 100w power.

thanks for helping out guys

I've bought a couple pedals from the US and they work fine in australia, we have the same voltage as Europe too.

Whats different here? Is it just the particular pedal?

its cause the transformer in this pedal its literally in it and not external like all other pedals made today.

Great.

You scared me for a second. I just connect my pedals to Boss style adapters, no problems yet.

yeah that will work fine beacuse you use a compatible external transformer.

my flanger just arrived. now on the back panel there written

Power : 105-125 volts AC, 50-60 HZ, 9 ma, 1 watt
210-250 volts AC, 50-60 HZ, 9 ma, 2 watts

Do you think i can just change the plug to match the European socket and plug it in a 230v outlet?

mine is like this: (notice the 2 sentence Power Statment in the bottom)

these with only 105 -125V power statment

Do you think i can plug with both 110v and 230v?
