Hello everyone!

I have this doubt, so i decide to throw it out my head.
For example i wanna study a genre lets say neoclassic, so should i go get references on this genre(Artists) right? but how to study their work? How to get the ideas?

Thank in advance for killing my curiosity

Well for one, I suppose start learning their material.

For example if you wanted to study Neo - you might get a copy of Tony Mac Alpine or Vinnie Moore, and then assuming that it was all too fast for you, get some piece of software and slow the songs down so you can hear them easier, and start transcribing their works one bar at a time.

If you know theory, you can then analyze what they are doing. If you don't then you can just memorize a lot of common moves or licks that you run into, the more works you transcribe.

Just listen alot. Learn alot and try to understand what is going on. Kind of a weird question to answer...

Yeah Im not sure what if any value your answer will have with him, its fairly general, and non specific.

Thanks...

But to TS just spend alot of time on it and give it passion. It will happen. Not overnight but it will.
