Starting at :31, he does the slide up and then down, then lifts his hand and does... something that makes a sound.

What is it?

My best guesses are either a bang on the upper body making the strings vibrate lightly, or a quiet slap on the first string, but I'm not sure.

Anyone know better?

Don't know how it sounds, but it sure looks like he's just hitting the 1st string hard.

Looks like he's hitting the body, making all the strings vibrate a bit, and the hit would also sound slightly too... I know that hitting electric guitars necks and bodies will make sounds, and acoustics you get more of a percussive thing. Get a bass and try it I guess.

Yeah, I'll have to try it when I get home. (At college right now, no bass. </3)

I love the solo though, maybe I'll try to learn it while I'm at it.

he's hitting the body of the bass... one or two times you can see he misses the strings completely
