Ok. So I may be boned here.

I open my laptop and do what I usually do. Get on Facebook, Myspace, the Pit, etc...

Well, I got a pop up from Windows Security Center saying that my firewall is not turned on, and that some trojan is hax0rzing my computer. I clicked "Enable Protection", and I got ANOTHER warning that an unverified publisher was installing something. So I click cancel, which stopped it from installing anything, and I checked to see if my fire wall was ACTUALLY turned on, and it was.

Messages like this (saying a DIFFERENT virus is infecting my computer) pop up every time I load a new page.

I ran MalwareBytes quick scan, but it didn't find anything. I went to Microsoft and downloaded a malicious virus scanner and it keeps closing itself halfway through the scan.

I am currently doing a full scan with MalwareBytes. God forbid this doesn't work, anybody have any ideas on what I can do to get this SOB off mah comp?

Didn't see that one coming.

Seriously though, I need help. I know that I never use my computer for anything other than the 3 things mentioned, so I don't really how this would happen.

I seriously need help.

TS, this is why we don't stick our lil TS in the PC printer port.

But seriously, take it to a professional. Or kick it out a window & buy a new PC. Either way, this wouldn't have happened if you had a Linux OS.

Update all software, such as Java, Adobe Reader and especially your operating system. Update drivers too. Any out-of-date software may provide loopholes for new viruses/spyware to use to manipulate your operating system.

Virus scans with several programs - AVG, MalwareBytes, an online virus scanner (Panda ActiveScan is one I used when I was doing a full system clean).

Spyware scans with several programs - Spybot Search and Destroy, Ad-Aware.

Anti-trojan scan with A-squared Free.

If it's still out-of-hand, find a forum that will interpret a HijackThis log (download it and run it, but DO NOT make any changes using it, simply post the results to a good security forum), and give you advice on how to secure your PC.

Alright. Right now I'm downloading OS updates. My Java and Adobe Reader were up-to-date. So, after this I'm supposed to go into safe mode and use Panda Active Scan?

ah, a friend of mine had that. it's a virus that looks just like the windows security center and it tries to get you to download a virus scanner that's actually a virus.

I fixed it, but I don't remember how. I remember it being pretty difficult, I think I was messing with it for over an hour before I got it. try to figure out the name of the program or something to google, you might be able to find some information about it.

edit: and the scanner you have now might not be able to pick it up. my friend had avg and it didn't detect it. I think I had to get rid of it manually by first ending the process and then deleting the right files and such. I'm not sure though.

That virus sucks. This guy in my operating systems class got it on his hard-drive and it spread to almost every computer in the classroom via USB sticks. The virus automatically wrote itself onto USB sticks and then copied itself onto other computers when the USB stick did its Autorun/play thing. The virus got as far as my teacher's house and she had to bring her computer in and reformat it. Apparently the virus writes itself into the registry multiple times and then changes all sorts of administrator privileges.

Get Clam Antivirus. www.clamav.net

If it's a newer version of the virus, Clam Antivirus is one of the only programs that finds and cleans it out. The only way to really be sure it's gone though is to format and reinstall your operating system.

There's your site. They've helped a ton of people. They really know their shit.

Get a real AV - you know, Avira Antivir Free, Avast! Home Edition, etc.

Also, try MBAM in safe mode.

You'll need to start up your computer in safe mode with networking. Look for majorgeeks on google. Follow the virus removal guide. Aside from that, reformat.

Hope it works out for ya bud.

This is right. Smitfraudfix is also an option - but I don't have a link for that.

I don't have anything useful to add, except that it is documented that viruses can be spread through Facebook. It's happened multiple times. You have to wear your e-condom there too, guys.
