I want to play a lot of Wes Montgomery music.

In my jazz band class we play a lot of big band kind of stuff, our Ellington pieces this year include Walkin and Swinging, Feet Bone and the Peanut Vendor.

Ive heard good things about both and played both, and know of a really good used Casino for $500. I cant seem to make the decision either way.

Have you looked at the Epiphone Zepher Regent? It's a bit closer to the Gibson L-5 Wes played. They're discontinued but you might be able to find one, or do you just want to choose between the Dot and Casino?
If so I say get the dot and maybe swap one of the pickups out for a humbucker sized P-90 like a Gibson P-94 or Seymour Duncan Phat Cat, then you've got the best of both guitars.

EDIT: This should be in the Electric Guitar forum, PM a mod so they can move it.

It's alot thicker as well and a FULL hollowbody I think, not a semi like the Dot or Casino, so it'll be alot more resonant.

I'll just report it for a move.

personally I would go with an Epiphone Sheraton II. I've always loved those things.

This will do a lot better in EG, I think.
Feel free to call me Kyle.

Just so you know, I read everything you type in a Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs voice.

I mean in Kyle's case, it is in the best interest of mankind that he impregnate anything that looks at him funny...

The Casino IS full hollowbody. I'd recommend that, as it's perfect for jazz but can be used for quite a varied range of genre's. I love a Casino through an overdriven amp for Brit Pop and Indie/Punk tones.
