Ok, so this thread type is only second in un-originality to "wich guitar shud i get pl0x?" but in all seriousness I really need help with getting a new amp. I have been playing for like 9 years and used the same Orange 15w practice amp since, but I have started gigging its just to quite etc. So has anyone got any vavle combos they could recommend me ?

Biggest factors in choice
- Price
-Weight

Music Styles
- Basically everything except Jazz and metal

You'll find whisky very different, but try it and you'll grow into it, soon you and whisky are one, but still two, lovers dancing across a frozen lake under moonlight, wrapped in honey and warmth.

Peavey classic series should be worth a look, especially if you're in North America. I hear the Laneys or some other british brand are better for the price in britain?

The weight issue is mainly down to the fact I dont have a car and have to be able to lug said amp to a bus/train

How are you gonna take it to a gig? Look at a 15 watt tube combo and mike it up then.

One of the things you have to get sorted before gigging is transport. Are you going to attempt to take even a 1x12 combo, guitar, spare guitar, pedals and cable box on a bus? Sort the transport and get a Hiwatt HG50 combo. Its lighter than a Twin Reverb and half the price. Its got more headroom than an AC30 and half the price.
Alright, that's the lecture over. Hayden MoFo head and a 1x12 cab will cost you about £550 and each is fairly light. Use a good gig bag on your back for your guitar(s) and stuff the pockets with cables and pedals.
