I know life is supposed to be enjoyable and your supposed to be happy, and being famous and having a lot of money helps for your enjoyment. Many people have a big desire to be famous, for the money which helps contribute to the possibility of things one can possess or do with a lot of money.
But then, others don't care about fame. They want to be recognized for what they do, that somehow includes fame, but in a different way, for example Bach, he was NOT famous in his time. Few people knew him, but after some time people started to gather his works and realized he was a genius. His students knew he was a genius and they probably spread Bach's knowledge and made him famous. But in his time, as now, he was Recognized and a genius musician who will live for all time even if he isn't walking in our world today.

So what side are you in?

Do you want fame and money but probably in a few years after your death nobody will remember you, because you believe that in life you have to be happy?

Or do you want to be a recognized person for what you do and be remembered for centuries to come even if you won't be as rich as those famous people?

It's one or the other. Some people CAN be famous and recognized at the same time but I'm asking what would you prefer to be, famous or recognized?

i want to be famous and benefit from it here and now, because of my lack of belief in any afterlife

the thought of the second one is nice, but it'll be irrelevant to me when i'm dead.

I would rather be recognized for my work rather than be rich and famous.
I've already promised myself that if I were to become rich, I'd pay back my parents and let them retire, and I would pay some charities.

Famous.

Mozart was recognized. He also died a very poor man.

Of the two, recognized. I don't particularly want to be harassed be people all the time. And as long as I have food, clothes, shelter, and a bass, I'm good.

Don't we all.

As much as I'd like to believe that I'd do the same, I wonder if I'll keep that promise.

Well if ur not famous then you will feel like sht you whole life cuz noone really appreciates your work. But if your recognized you will feel like shit cause no one will be crazy about your work and you wont be able to see how u make people happy. What I'm trying to say here is that both have bad and good sides. Don't bother deciding what you want to be. Just go and be yourself and see what u make of yourself.

I think it's pretty important to decide what you want to be. It contributes to the determination of someone. Someone who has strong determination wants to be something, and he fights for it. Those people are usually the ones who become what they want. Those who have very strong will power often make it and it's because they wanted that and nothing kept them from running to their finish line.

how is this gonna help me while I am alive. Even if there is an afterlife, being recognized on earth is not going to do shit to you there. God beholds us all as equal remember?

I'd rather get famous. Not oo famous tho. Just famous enough that I can make a living by just being me and doing what I like. I'd probably use the excess money to financially aid certain members of my family.
The corners of your mouth feel dry and rather itchy, don't they?

i would have to say famous, as a racer it feels great when kids and parents know you out in public and talk to you. Im not anywhere near famous though, so with hundreds of people coming up it would probably get very annoying, but thats a risk im willing to take.

Depends. Does the fame end up going to my head and turning me into the next Britney Spears? If so, I choose to be recognised. If not, I choose fame.

I'd rather just have the money and have no one ever know me.
If it were socially acceptable, I would drape myself in velvet.

This is gonna sound shallow, but if no-one appreciates your work during your lifetime, you'll never be able to reap the benefits of it.

Thats exactly how I feel.

Recognized, in my point of view it is the only way to achieve true immortality.
#21
Recognized any day
Fame doesn't really appeal to be (getting stacked 24/7 don't really sound like fun :|)
Wouldn't mind the money though :P

But if people still enjoy your work even after your gone, then you can never truly die

Famous. Might as well enjoy it while I'm alive.

I won't be there to appreciate the recognition after my death.
