I've been playing bass for a couple of months and I've always wanted to learn how to play Panic Attack but the issue is I have a 4-String bass and I honestly don't feel ready or the need to go out and get a 5-6 string bass. I was wondering if you guys could help me out abit at least for the intro. What I figured out so far was the following on the G string.

8-7-8-10-8-7

you do realize that the extra stings for bass are BELOW the E not above the G right?

Not always. I know many people who have their 5er's set up EADGC.

Tune your bass to A-D-G-C. If you don't care about playing the low notes in the right octave, then you could do D-G-C-F. The intro will sound correct on the latter.

For gods sake buy new strings first, don't just tune up you'll wreck the neck.
Alternatively you could figure out a way to play it on a standard tuned bass. Music is filled with little problems like this, just try to figure it out rather than taking the easy route and changing your instrument to suit you.

Standard 6 string tuning is B-E-A-D-G-C, and the bassist to Dream Theater uses one, and I believe the intro is triple fingered and looks like
8-0-0-7-0-0-10-0-8-0-7-0

That's what I've seen played in every video I've seen of it, and that's also the way the bass is played on Rockband.

A-G-C-F, i know it sounds a bit weird, but most of the song is played on the C-G-F, you only need the lowest string for some parts, the second half of the second verse and the breakdown mainly, and the part right before the solo

for this id suggest a 5 string set and take the E out and tune em down a step
