I need some help . I have around $400 to put toward a new guitar. The more I research options the more I see. It seems that every company has at least 20 guitars at around $400. Which guitar is the best buy for the money. I would like a tremolo, since my guitar now is a hardtail. I play a lot of Green day, Rage Against the Machine, some AC/DC, and others.

Thanks in Advance.

What's your current gear (guitar, amps, pedals)?

What are you trying to change (playability, sound)?

Will you go used? That opens up a lot of options.

I have the ibanez jumpstart metal pak (http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ibanez-IJX121Metal-Guitar-Jumpstart-Package?sku=518877 ) , a ds-1 and a crybaby. I'm getting a Spider IV for christmas in a week. (http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Line-6-Spider-IV-75-75W-1x12-Guitar-Combo-Amp?sku=620210 )

Basically What I want is a nicer guitar that has a wider range of playability. With the line 6 I am expecting my sound options to widely change. I am planning on keeping the ibanez for metal (since i mess around with all genres of rock).

I am willing to go used if necessary.

If you're going for the rock range outside of metal with a budget of around $400, I might go with an Epiphone SG. They make a G400 (SG) with a tremolo.
