Playing my stingray last night I noticed the open pickups have little dots of what looks like rust. I was wondering if there were any simple ways to clean this off, or for future reference, ways to prevent this from happening.

Any tricks you guys have found to help? I don't want to damage the pickup at all so I would rather ask than try something harmful.

Thanks in advance!

if it's on the pole piece you can use very fine steel wool to rub it off

DO NOT DO THIS

If you do that, basically you will get small pieces of metal filings and wire wool inside the pickup which will basically **** your pickup up over time, do NOT do that.

basically there's nothing you can do, man up and put up with it.

Not sure, but when you're done, perhaps do what I did and coat the polepieces in clear nail polish to stop it from happening again.

Leave it. It adds character.
