Well I had a few people ask me the differences between my Dragon and my Cobra. And now that my Cobra Is fixed here we go;

I know how everyone loves a good pic:

Settings:

Here are some clips for you to judge yourself, All of the clips are reamped DI's going straight into the amps with everysingle dial set to noon, apart from master volume which was about 10 O'clock. Same mic posistion, same cab and the only EQ on the guitars was a low cut and high cut to take out uneeded frequencys. The intro is on the crunch channel and the rest is on the lead channels.

Framus Dragon:

CLICK ME!

Framus Cobra:

CLICK ME!

Bear in mind these tone weren't dialed in at all literally everything at noon, so the dragon clip does sound undergained and whatnot but this a comparison not getting the best out the amps. I will redo both clips tommorow and dial in the amps to the best tone I can, this is just to give everyone an Idea of the difference with all the same settings.

Edit: I stand corrected.

$1700 is a lot to me

GREAT Clips man

not sure which one I liked better. I guess the Cobra can 'sing' better.

Hes asked the price difference between the two

I know they're not cheap amps, but I picked both up for under £700 each

Sounds great! Love the Dragon over the Cobra.
If you start a reply with: I have never played one but I have heard good things about it! Your opinion is invalid.

I'm really surprised at how many people prefer the Dragon, too me its undergained in the clip and I just prefer the Cobra's voicing, I guess it just proves how subjective tone is!

I shall post my "Dialed in" tones tomorrow, and then we'll see again.

I prefer the Cobra with this test. It sounds like a much tighter and more cutting amp. The Dragon seems under gained and a bit saggy if you will.
Sig What?

I'm going to go with the Cobra. I haven't actually heard many Dragon clips that I like.

mmmmm Cobra.

Never heard one of those before...they sound killer! If thats what it sounds like with everything at noon, I cant imagine how cool it sounds dialed in.

the dragon sounds better imo, but I'm not a big fan of high gain amps anyway, that may have something to do with it.

I really like the darkness and looseness of the Dragon, both are nice, amazing deals.
#25
Loving both, man You're gonna have to do a double-tracked clip with one on each side for kicks
Then there's this band called Slice The Cake...

Bunch of faggots putting random riffs together and calling it "progressive" deathcore.
Stupid name.
Probably picked "for teh lulz"

Although I don't play metal, I'd have to go with the Dragon. Much more open and crunchy. I call it "lumpy." Seriously. That's what I think of when I hear it.

I'll do it tomorrow man, Once I've Dialed both amps in properly, Ill do each on its own, then combined. Maybe I'll throw a bit of VHT into the mix just for shits n giggles.

EDIT: I could quad it: Dragon, Cobra, Deliverance, ENGL E530 into cobra poweamp..........

Nice clips...

The Dragon sounded like it had a lot of blanket over the cab... it sounded so subdued. I also felt that it was too bassy for my liking.

The Cobra was nice... a little compressed though, but I like the sharp searing quality of its sound.

nice clips man!

I think I like Dragon a bit better.. but it is a bit "undergained" as you said. I think if you dialed them in and made the tone a bit heavier, that Dragon would own the Cobra. Cobra is a bit too bright and fizzy to me.

Edit:

I just said "bit" four times.

FOUR TIMES.
