So i have a dean evo ive stripped down and re painted i want to replace the pickups i mostly play heavy rock music they cant be active emgs because i cant make the room for the batteries. thanks

what do you play/budget?

EDIT: sorry i see heavy rock now...GFS crunchy rails...they're only 33 bucks a piece and are great..similar to a seymour duncan JB

Try getting some EMGs. If you don't have the money, try some DiMarzio. Then you'll find the sounds your looking for.

i'm of the opinion that you can never tell until its in your guitar.
there's too many other things going on.
and even listening to sound clips? what does that tell you? amp? speakers? 24/25.5?
luckily the Big Two have generous exchange policies, even after you've installed them
