I prefer a bit thicker set of strings when down tuning a lot. I used to go 9-42, I have 10-46 now, but I'm thinking of going 11-48 just because I like going C#-D# lately

TS, the only person who can answer the question is you. Try them both....its that simple. Us telling you what we personally like isnt going to help. I thought I wanted 12's at one point on my drop C guitar, and almost immediately I clipped them off and put 10's on because I hated it.
