This may be a dumb question, but when you guys palm mute, do you usually have part of your hand touching the guitar body? I ask because when I do, the "pad" below my thumb on the body and the rest of the part that I mute with on the bridge. This makes it hard for me to play with tom bridges, so is this a bad technique that I need to change, or is it perfectly normal?

Just depends on the bridge, how big you hand is, and how much muting you want.

Experiment. Do what works.

Yeah don't touch the body with your hand. Just put the side of your hand on the bridge or the strings or wherever you want depending on how much mute you want.
Fire it up, let the engines roll!
It's time to burn it down!
Keep bleeding on till the day you die!
Forever love it loud, yeah!
