When I listened to this song, I fell in love with the instruments, then he started singing...
Hypnos69 - Vertigo
The vocals killed the song for me.

Naturally, I started a thread, and now you too can discuss songs which start off awesome, but have that one annoying bit.

A lot of Muse stuff. In particular, I decided to check out the live version of Stockholm Syndrome, and my opinion went something like this:

Most metal bands/songs until vox come in.
The will be heartache,
there will be rain,
and joy I can't explain.

+1 to muse, I HATE them.
And pretty much all power metal/prog metal, the only prog I like is Mercenary and Nevermore.

Every single Dream Theater song I've heard. I'd go "this sounds pretty cool", then the singer comes in and my ear gets raped.

I agree with Dream Theater. I like some of their songs, but a lot of their stuff sounds good, then the vocals come in, it just bums me out after that.

This is the main reason I can't really get into Slipknot.
Corey's vocals on All Hope is Gone(the album) just turn me away from the whole thing.

Coheed and Cambria, the music is alright then the singing comes in...

Can you really picture the music with any other voice? It would be like Tom Araya singing for Rush. Tis an acquired taste, anyway.

For me its Led Zeppelin. I'm like "Woo! Yeah!" Then they never quite get "there" If you know what I mean... Its all buildup and no crescendo. Like Kashmir, it seems like its getting ready for some huge "something," even if its just a heavier version of the main riff, but no, it never comes. And Black Dog, no song makes me angrier. It feels like the timing is just a TINY bit off and it made me feel like punching a tortoise the first time I listened to it.

And BTBAM. Everyone was raving on about their technical mastery and amazingness, I got all excited, then listened to them. To me they sound like some hardcore/metalcore/whatevercore with reaaaalllyyy insanely bad vocals.

Also Iron Maiden, have awesome intros but then it gets boring =/
...In my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, I love Rush but... c'mon, Geddy Lee's vocals can get annoying at times.
Wave goodbye to the past.

Protest the Hero is like that for me. I can't stand their vocals.

This. 'tis a shame too, since their guitarists are so insane.

For me, it's Fall of Troy. I like their music, but the singer man... uggggg
R.I.P. Ronnie James Dio. Supplied amazing music to both me and my mother.

He will be missed.

I have learned to just tune out the vocals... or just listen to Dance of Eternity and nothing else.

But MUSE?! Muse is amazing...

BTBAM for me... I love the music, but the vocals bother me right now.

See, I love Claudio's vocals, but I respect your opinion. I can see where you're coming from. Although some of the parts before the vocals are pretty badass.

EDIT: And at this very moment, I'm not in the mood for screaming. I want something sad and slow, and don't get me wrong, I love screaming vocals, but I want some Bright Eyes right now. It's just a let down if you have your music player on shuffle, as I do.
