I can't get the technique for it right.
I either get the dead note sound.
Or I get the normal un-muted sound.

The lessons on UG aren't exactly helping me at all.
The most I can gather is sitting your palm on the bridge (and I know where the bridge is XD), but that's all it states.

If I had to do the nasty with any guitarist it'd definitely be Herman Li,

The sex would be just like his playing, fast, sloppy, and dissapointing.

Yeah, and that's basically it. I suggest putting your palm on the bridge and then move around until you find the spot you're searching for.

I use the side of my palm right next to the bridge, just find the right pressure to affect the strings and rest is just childs play

No idea what kind of sound I'm looking for though.
And how to change from palm muting to not has me stumped XD
Considering I can barely strum with a pick anyhow lol.
(I don't play with a pick 99% of the time)

it doesnt matter ur using pick or not , it matters what kind of sound ur guitar is having
it not gonna work on clean tones, needs dry distortion to get that nice palm mute tone .

Of course using a pick matters - without it you'll struggle to get the percussive, swift attack needed for a decent palm-muted sound.
Actually called Mark!

Put the side of your hand (karate chop side) on the strings at the bridge. Directly on the bridge so it's not muted at all. Now move your hand left slowly and it will get palm muted, then the farther left you go it will get more of a dead sound.
