So voting starts tomorrow for Triple J's Hottest 100 for 2009.
Any idea what you're going to vote for?

My votes are:

· Animal Collective - My Girls
· Art Vs Science - Parlez Vous Francais?
· Bluejuice - Broken Leg
· Frank Turner - Reasons Not To Be An Idiot
· La Roux - Bulletproof
· MSTRKRFT - 1000 Cigarettes
· Muse - Undisclosed Desires
· NOFX - Creeping Out Sara
· Something With Numbers - Sex From The Bong

However, for my tenth vote I can't decide between

· Lisa Mitchell - Coin Laundry
· Middle East, The - Blood

Well anyways, what is everyone else voting for?

To be honest, I havent voted the last two years since i don't reckon anything decent has come out lol.

Excepted for Undisclosed Desires, I think that has a good chance at winning.

edit: I think lisa Mitchell will do well.

Did 'Dont be on with her' by miami horror come out this year? that was a cool song.

I can't really see a clear winner this year. The main vibe on Triple J for this year is that Muse was overplayed. Unlike last year with 'Sex On Fire', I don't think there is one song set to take out tope spot.

Oh, I completely forgot about that!

I'll vote for Muse, of course.

Animal Collective are over-rated tripe.

I actually totally agree. I just have a major thing for their song 'My Girls'.
The Dappled Cities cover is amazing.

I kinda liked My Girls when I looked it up on YouTube, but when I listened to it again a few weeks later, iI just found it annoying.

Grizzly Bear annoyed the fuck out of me too. Panda Bear wasn't cringe-worthy, but it wasn't great either.

Have you heard of a band called Passion Pit?

I miss 90's Triple J. Then JTV came out, and Benji saw that it was good. Then they changed it and got that doctor guy in full time and it all went to crap. Australian music is taking some horrible steps towards mediocrity.
...In my opinion.

I JUST WANT FOUR WALLS AND ADOBE SLABS FOR MY GIRLS

Umm,

My vote might go to The Antlers, Protomen or Japandroids. Don't think I voted last year. Probably too lazy to vote this year.

Oh man, every Hottest 100 in the 90's was gold!
The only hip hop or techno stuff was really early stages and still good.
1998 was the best year ever.

I find it hilarious that only when Animal Collective finally got into the mainstream with My Girls that was when people started to call them overrated, and now that they're started to get talked about people are bitching about it in general. Before if you talked about them no one wouldn't have a clue.

I sort of like Passion Pit but the singer cannot perform live and this ruins the performance when they play. If you want a similar example of a singer who can perform the studio version live without the use of vocal enhancers check out Thomas Mars from Phoenix.

songs that I voted:

Animal Collective - My Girls
Animal Collective - What Would I Want? Sky
Dinosaur Jr - Over It
Dirty Projectors - Stillness Is The Move
Grizzly Bear - Two Weeks
Lily Allen - Not Fair
Mumford & Sons - Little Lion Man
Muse - Undisclosed Desires
Phoenix - 1901
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Zero

.

I just watched a live video of them yesterday and this is so ridiculously true. when they were in the studio they must have done absolutely nothing to his voice.

I think there is some overdubbing going on which you realize more when you watch their acoustic sessions. But his voice stand alone is stunning.

I actually liked Passion Pit but I got really turned off them when I saw some live videos, I will check them out when they play BDO though.

thanks. I saw them on the Interface sessions podcast, and he was really amazing. Truly a gem. I gotta c em live.

They also know so little english, the drummer and the guitarist know absolutely none, during the interviews they just looked angry/confused/bored. when the interviewer asked the singer how he though about touring in america he was like
'ooouhhhhhhhhhhh................its nice.'

Overrated, yes. Tripe? no... listen to their album Strawberry Jam.

Even then, it's not like MPP is a bad album.
