After a couple of years of being a guitarist for the hardcore/post-hardcore band The Amity Affliction, Christopher Burt has decided to leave to explore in other aspects of his musical career. The decision was mutual and had been planned for some time. His last show was in London earlier this month. While all the members are still good friends with Chris, the decision was made in the best interest of the band musically, with the band currently writing a new album and getting set to record in the US in March.

On his departure from The Amity Affliction, Chris has offered the below statement.

Quote by Christopher Burt
Hey Everyone,

So the decision has been made to part ways with Amity after a few years playing with the guys. I guess it had been coming for a while for me, especially as we’ve started writing the second album. I could tell that I was heading in a different direction musically than the other guys, which made it hard for me to be part of the writing process. We decided that with the massive commitment coming in the next couple of years to the album it’s best that everyone is 100% into it. In the end, I think the best thing for me was to move on.

Having said that, I’m stoked on what we achieved in my time in the band, and I’m still good friends with everyone in the band. It’s just time to move on and start down a different path. Thanks to every fan and everyone involved in the band, as well as the other 5 Amity guys. I can’t wait to see what you guys do next, I’m sure it’s gonna be massive.

Adios!

Chris

Taking over from Chris on guitar will be Clint Splattering formerly of The Getaway Plan – who broke up mid 2009. Clint has been close friends with the band for years, and is a top notch guitarist and songwriter, be sure to welcome him in the up and coming summer tour around the world.

1st. Doesn't really need it's own thread, should probably take it to the Amity Affliction thread.
2nd. Although devastating because this band is great, im glad it's Clint. The Getaway Plan has a somewhat similair rock/post-hardcore sound so it will be interesting to see what comes out of this. As long as they don't get softer this is good news to me

Yeah I'd really hate to see them get softer. I love them just the way they are at the moment. haha

The new guitarist was so awkward last night. The band as a whole was pretty sloppy and the keyboardist managed to start off 2 songs in the wrong key. Quite disappointing, these guys were marginally better this time last year.
His reason for leaving is also because the vocalist and bass player run the band like a business.

Who?

Don't mess with this shit bro. It's pretty hardcore, no joke haha. These guys go nuts with keeping it business like. It's like a ****ing hardcore mafia.
