First off, let me know if someone did this already. I searched, and looked through the last few pages of the Pit and didn't see anything.

Apparently dogs are worse on the environment than owning an SUV.

So are all of the people fighting for alternative fuel and smaller, more efficient cars willing to kill their dogs too?

For fooks sake, I thought everyone had accepted that mankind had nothing to do with global warming?

BENJEDITY: This is technically dogkind, but whatever...

What's next, the carbon footprint of a tree?

I think the point is that people have them as pets. The food they eat isn't food they catch in nature. It has to be processed just like the food we eat. Not to mention since we domesticated them there are probably a lot more dogs in the world than there would be naturally.

humans are worse

Hmmm, interesting point. Time to undomesticate canines.

Actually, how sweet would it be to have a pet wolf. "Pet" as in something that hung out around your neighbourhood, and you fed it scraps in return for it's companionship.

In my opinion, the thought of owning several other pets to feed your dog naturally is irrational. The only way we can really own dogs as pets and feed them is to have sh*t like the processed dog food we have now.

Keeping pets isn't part of mother nature's carbon footprint.

Exactly.

I don't actually think that people should get rid of their dogs. I just think people need to realize that there are things hurting the environment that you might not even think of. I think it's rather shocking that a dog will hurt the environment more than an SUV.
#29
Hasn't anyone figured out that WE are part of nature? So, anything WE do is natural. Therefore, if we do something to stop the killing of a certain species, or "global warming" WE are disrupting nature.

I've thought about it before. I'm smart like that. Dogs and cats are primarily carnivorous, an extraordinarily inefficient way of obtaining energy.

I think this is also in favour of euthanising all those damn dogs that 'Dogs Trust' bang on about. If it's an abandoned animal that can't be rehomed and isn't bringing anyone any joy, put the damn thing to sleep.

Ah, the PETA Policy.

PETA object to the keeping of pets, it doesn't make sense for them to rehome them. Or keep them alive at vast expense to themselves and the environment.
