Oh hell yes!

http://profile.ultimate-guitar.com/HellBoy9393/music/all/play755472

I heard numerous people across the web saying the Laney TT amps were not so great for metal, but here's my TT doing some high gain metal completely dry (no effects), using an Epiphone G-400 w/ stock pickups tuned in Drop C.

The mic I used was a camera mic. I tried micing the amp up with my karaoke mic but it kills all the low-end. Despite all the clipping and muddyness of the camera mic, it sounds more like being right there next to the amp than using my karaoke mic to mic the amp.

No love for teh Laney?

I just want to know if you guys define this sound as suitable for 'high-gain' music.

look around the laney posse forum, and harmony central reviews. Even I thought at first that this amp didn't have enough gain for me. This is what 1 year of being restricted to solid state 'ultra high distortion' channels does to you.

Didn’t Tony Iommi invent metal on Laney amps?

yeah...except Sabbath metal isn't exactly in the same high-gain class as say...KSE or Trivium.

HC reviews not on the the AF are to be taken with a grain of salt. And i always thought they got heavy enough. I mean the gh series gets some serious balls as does the TT and VH

Corrected.

I really wouldn't place too much stock on reviews. Have you seen some of the UG reviews?

If you want some lulz.... some of the reviews on UG can be hilarious!

That true.

Least of all, every amp/guitar/rig/setup will sound different to different people.

Add that into the the fact that you might be looking for something that the reviewer might have left out / omitted or ignored.

Throw in the fact that your idea of brootalz might be completely different from the reviewer.

After all of that, throw in the fact that everyone has differing opinions.

If you consider all of that, I don't see how reviews can be relied upon. Reviews can be useful, yes.

Reliable? Questionable.

I mean... check out this review...

After a while, I've given up depending on reviews or giving them, hence I never reviewed my MkV. If you want opinions on my gear... PM me and I'll give you my opinions.
